Blind Chef Laura Martinez of Charlie Trotter's blew the crowd away with her wonderful demonstration of how to make Tres Leches Cake. It was standing room only at the event in Whole Foods Market Evanston South, a leader in disability-awareness in the community, on Dec 19.
On top of taking questions about the recipe, Chef Martinez also answered questions like "how do you learn to use knives safely?" and "how did you get to work at Charlie Trotter's?", and even shared the story of her battle to join Le Cordon Bleu as a culinary student who is blind.
