LA Fitness, the company as a whole, AND specifically the Downtown Evanston location is truly terrible. My personal experience was THE WORST customer service I've ever received. After fowling up my billing several times, I finally canceled my membership when they charged my checking account over $500 without notice!!! (my month fee was $35/month) Three months of 1 hour long phone calls to customer service only got me a 50% refund. This company does not care about it's customers.
As a personal support worker for individuals with disabilities I have seen the staff do the same at 3 people I work with. Their sales staff aggressively sells and then locks individuals into a seemingly 'affordable' membership packages (with hidden fees) and then makes it impossible for people to cancel their membership, even though they 'guarantee no commitment'.
This company only wants to make $$$$$ at the expense of the customers.
Disability Awareness:
Unwelcoming, Avoided the person/people with disability, Ignored the person/people with the disability, Unfriendly, Inflexible service, Disrespectful, Rushed the person/people with disability, Impatient, Unwilling or unhelpful with assistance or accommodations
As an advocate for people with disabilities, I found L.A. Fitness's tactics to get membership very high pressure and extremely coercive for an individual that I support. I did not find it in any way supportive to this individual and actually more predatory in their approach.
