When Kristi and I (Kristi has Down Syndrome) went to the Dells, we stayed in a wonderful rustic little bed and breakfast (pets are allowed also). We had our own cabin, complete with refrigerator and stove for an extremely reasonable price, and she had her own little bedroom and TV. The cool things about the place were all of the animals both there and on the farm that Kristi could play with and feed, a kitten, adult and kid goats, ponies, chickens, baby chicks, cows and ducks (all free of charge). The included breakfasts were wonderful, and Anita, the owner, really catered to Kristi, making sure that she was included with the other children and giving her bread to feed the animals. When we went to the free demonstration at the farm, Kristi was the first one that she allowed to stand on a stool and hook the milking tubes to a cow, and her granddaughter (it's a family run bed and breakfast and farm) made sure that Krist got a turn giving the calves a bottle of milk. We still went to the water slides, but honestly, the bed and breakfast was more fun, and peaceful, and we met some nice people there. We didn't end up going to the Dinner Show (where they dress in Norwegian dress and play the fiddles and accordian) or making bread (small charges for these, and we will definitely try them next time). It was such a neat place and Anita was such a cool and caring person, that I am sure that we will go many more times, and I hope that you will try this old-fashioned wonderful experience as well.
