Maat is a home-based business run by a woman who is an Africentric, multi-talented and disabled artist, writer, blogger, nutrition educator, and business consultant.

Maat jewelry is “meditation in motion.” It’s wearable art. Mostly green jewelry, my specialties are semi-precious beads, unusually shaped pendants, unusual combinations of stones, metal, metal wire, Afrikan and Czech stones, seeds and wood. I bring “order to chaos” in hand¬crafted, mainly organic shapes--semi-precious, wood, glass and metal beads. New and recycled jewelry--one-of-a-kind, custom-made, women's and girls’ jewelry made by me and limited men's jewelry and watches made by Maat and others who are part of Maat’s or Ibeji’s classes or organizations. My masks are one-of-a-kind crafted from Styrofoam, gauze or paper. I occasionally make greeting cards, grapevine baskets, and twist paper dolls, and do graphic design, too.

Maat also provides nutritional education, green awareness, disability education, management consulting and project management, while continuing her beaded jewelrymaking and poetry. Maat has over 30 years combined art experience and training at Truman College, School of the Art Institute and Ibeji Resource Center; and has taught art to children or seniors at New Concept Development Center, Insight Arts, BNICEH, Rogers Park Library.
