This new resident-led initiative is very exciting, and is another aspect of Northbrook becoming a "greener" community. There are apparently two garden sites, and one is adjacent to Crestwood Place, Northbook's affordable housing facility for seniors. At this site, work has been undertaken (by some ambitious Eagle Scouts) to lay a hard surface as the first step toward creating an "enabling garden," so that participants who use wheelchairs or walkers, will be able to access the garden. In the Spring, raised beds will be constructed to enable those who use wheelchairs to easily access the soil for planting and maintenance. Great job, Northbrook Community Garden!
