NAMI - Cook County North Suburban helps parents & care-givers of children, adolescents and adults understand and cope with the challenges of parenting a child who has a brain disorder. NAMI also has programs for adults who have a variety of disabilities, including bi-polar disorder, attention deficit disorder, eating disorders, and many others. I took an 8-week course through NAMI with other parents. It was very helpful, and later interactions with NAMI staff were very positive. I would encourage anyone facing mental health or other challenge that affects mood, thinking or behavior to contact NAMI to see if they can help you.
