I am a 1994 graduate of New Trier's Winnetka campus. I agree with the other reviewer: it's good to see inclusion of people with disabilities in all performances. I had an excellent education at New Trier. One major complaint I have about the Winnetka campus, however, is the physical inaccessibility of the music department. I took private cello lessons from a very nice teacher there, and I was also in the string orchestra. We met on the upper floors, and my classmates would have to carry my cello because I couldn't do that and hold on to the stairway bannisters at the same time. It's a shame that the recent referendum got outvoted, otherwise an elevator could've been added to the music building. One of the theaters at the Winnetka campus--McGee Theater--was and probably still is not physically accessible.

Talk about disability aware! At the Men's Dance and Chorus Performance last night, students with disabilities performed side-by-side with their peers without disabilities. No coddling, no tragic heroes, no pity party. Just real students, sharing their skills and talents at all levels TOGETHER. That's disability awareness. Thank you New Trier Dance and Chorus teachers. You get it!
