I was recently at an event that featured a presentation by JJ's List volunteers, and had the opportunity to meet Ron Weddington, Northbrook's Postmaster. I learned from him that the Northbrook Post Office has been providing training opportunities for special education students, and that the Post Office is eager to provide the type of "disability-aware" service that JJ's List promotes.

As a customer for many years at both the Main Post Office and the Church St. branch, I know that the postal workers at both sites are friendly, efficient, helpful and patient. We have taught our son to use the automated postal machine at the Dundee site, and he enjoys being able to independently use it to prepare packages for shipping, which is an important life skill for him. I recently needed to get a passport renewed quickly to be able to travel overseas, and the postal worker there went out of her way to check on the progress of the renewal, and was accommodating in other ways.

A few years ago, I helped organize a tour of the Dundee Rd. Post Office for my son's class, and the students loved learning about the whole mail process.
