Okay

The restrooms were accessible and a good size. Although, the elevators were a little too small for certain size wheelchairs. The teen loft was visually stimulating and cool artwork! The parking lot does not provide accesable parking for agency vans or bus's. Overall we enjoyed our time at the library just the size of the elevator was a bit small.

I was at this library earlier today for an event and had a great time! The staff with whom I interacted were great, and the event was very well organized. I hope to come back soon.

The Northbrook Library is celebrating Autism Awareness Month by featuring its autism- and disability-related materials, and by offering special programming aimed at siblings and parents. The Library now offers private tours, by appointment. It seems that these efforts are directed at younger patrons, but perhaps in time, there will be greater focus on teen, young adult and older adults who have disabilities. There are a number of outside groups that hold meetings/support groups at the Library, including the Low-Vision Support Group.

I was recently at the Northbrook Public Library for a meeting for a non profit organization. The employees at the Northbrook Public Library are helpful and friendly. We had our meeting in the computer tech room. When the computer tech room was locked, one of us went to the front desk to get a staff member. The lady at the front desk was helpful and friendly and she let us in. Another time, when I went to the front desk to give them a sign with the logo of the nonprofit organization for the seminar, I asked a lady at the front desk if I could hang the sign up by the door, but the lady said that she'll direct the people to the meeting. I enjoy going to the Northbrook Library. It's a good place to use the internet and read books. The staff let us use the computers in the computer tech room for the meeting. The Northbrook Library is wheelchair accessible and it's a big library. It's fun to look at books there. The Northbrook Public Library is a fun library to go to.

Although I am not a resident of Northbrook, I am very impressed with the facility and will continue to come to the Northbrook Library. I recently attended an instructional seminar regarding jjslist.com in the computer tech room. Every staff member I encountered was helpful and the technology/computer room was extremely functional. Later, the library allowed us to hold a small celebration/reception in their cafe area. Several members of our community who have disabilities were present and were treated with respect and care. Thanks to the Northbrook Library!

For many years, the Northbrook Public Library has been a source of information, guidance, and recreation for our son with high-functioning autism and for our family. From help with medical research to materials on our son's latest "special interest" to a special "autism collection" of books and audio-visual materials, to free events and movie screenings, the Library is a place we can go almost any day of the week and almost any time of the day to get out of the house to do something interesting or find something inspiring. The Library offers private sessions with a reference librarian for those who want to explore a topic in depth, and accommodates people with special needs in a wide variety of ways through assistive technology, private study/meetings rooms, materials in its collection, lectures and support-groups, and well-informed and compassionate librarians and administrators. In the near future, the Library plans to offer an occasional "open house" just for members of the disability community, so that children can practice using the library, and so that the librarians can become better informed about the needs of patrons with disabilities and their families. Many area schools and agencies use the library regularly, and people with disabilities work on job skills and volunteer at the Library. We have used many area public libraries, and believe that Northbrook's is among the very best!
