I recently found out about a driver who is very reliable and friendly. I used his service a few times so far, and each trip was a success. For example, the first time I scheduled a ride with him I was going to Life Tools Camp, which was being held for the first time last summer and is run by CIF. I requested that the driver come up to the front door of my apartment building to escort me to his vehicle, and he did this. As a matter of fact he showed up a bit early. I told him where I needed to go, and he got me there with no problem. The fee is very good as well, just $1 per mile. Once we were at my destination, he walked me inside. He asked me if I needed a ride home at the end of the day. I wasn't sure but he told me to call him back. I did call him back, but only to tell him I got a ride home from one of the camp staff who is an employee of CIF. I have since called this cab driver a few more times, and I will definitely do so in the future if nobody else can transport me. He was very accommodating one time when I rode home in his vehicle with two neighbors. We split the cost of the ride.
Disability Awareness:
Welcoming, Talked to me person-to-person, Asked me if I needed or wanted help, Friendly, Gave me choices, Gave me extra time, Respectful, Helpful when I needed assistance or accommodation, Flexible service, Physically accessible, knows where he's going and speaks perfect English. A lot of cab drivers I've had in the past didn't speak or understand English very well and at times couldn't read it either.
