I used to come here a lot when I was little, back when it was in Wilmette. I haven't been back since then, but I still remember having fun there. I remember there being a lot of space for me and other kids to move around in, and there was lots for us to do.

Kohl Children's Museum of Greater Chicago is a wonderful place to bring children ages birth to 8 or 9 years. All on one level of a very large building, the museum prides itself on its universal design. Whether a child has a sensory, mobility or cognitive disability, they will have a great time in the museum. All the exhibits are designed with wide aisles and low-to-the-ground components to be easily enjoyed by people with mobility impairments or short stature. If notified in advance, the museum staff can make accommodations for field trip or camp groups with disabled participants. There are brightly colored signs and hands on activities for all ability levels. In addition to the larger wheelchair accessible stalls in the regular bathrooms, the museum provides individual restrooms that are large enough to accommodate wheelchairs. At $6.50 for seniors and $7.50 for adults and children ages 1-54, whole families can enjoy an inexpensive day-long outing. Food is available in the cafe for an additional charge. For those with allergies or sensitivities, the museum is strictly nut free and is cleaned and sanitized daily. Inquire by phone, internet or in person to reserve a room for a party.
