The Northbrook Police Department has been very receptive to requests by individual parents and parents' groups to provide disability awareness and specialized training to officers and other personnel related to the special needs of children and adults with disabilities. They were eager to participate in special open houses for residents who have children with disabilities, and seem genuinely interested in becoming as prepared as possible to respond safely and effectively in emergency situations involving residents with special needs.
