I am a regular shopper at Jewel-Osco, and with 3 teenage boys, I have a large weekly grocery bill. Last week, a Jewel employee politely insisted that she accompany me to my car. I thought it was odd. I heard this week that this is a new company policy. I absolutely do not want to be walked to my car each time I shop at Jewel. I do not need assistance, nor do I want it.
I know several individuals with disabilities who work as utility clerks for multiple Jewel locations, and quite honestly, this is one of the reasons I shop there. If this new policy jeopardizes their employment status at Jewel stores, I will shop somewhere else. As a customer, I much prefer to see inclusion and opportunity for all, rather than be walked to my car.
I encourage Jewel Osco stores to reconsider this new policy.
Disability Awareness:
Welcoming, Friendly, Respectful, Has employees with disabilities, Physically accessible
