I had the distinct pleasure of seeing--or actually hearing--Body & Soul: Diana & Kathy, on Saturday at the Evanston Public Library with a group of friends. The documentary was powerful yet enjoyable. Fortunately I've never been institutionalized and I hope I never have to go through that experience. But I think this film does a great job portraying what life is like for people who are institutionalized. One highlight for me was getting to watch this film with audio descriptions. I've watched films with audio descriptions for several years and I think it is wonderful. Audio descriptions need to be more widely available. If we didn't have a certain group of people with visual impairments railing against this service I think it would be more widespread. But kudos to all who worked on "Body & Soul: Diana and Kathy," including Kathy and Diana themselves, for doing an excellent job with the film.
