I recently had the opportunity to visit the Planet Access Company Store with our NO BOUNDARIES – Train for Work, Train for Life participants. I was impressed with the quality of products for holiday gifts – candles, hats, gloves and coats to everyday wear for men and women. The PAC Store seems like a high-end boutique but the prices are reasonable and the customer service is impeccable.
What sets the PAC Store apart from other stores is their commitment to social responsibility by supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. During our visit Catherine Stigler, Buyer, and Annabeth Tisoncik, Store Manager, discussed with our No Boundaries participants what it takes to be hired at their store.
What does it take to be a Sales Associate at Planet Access Company Store?
- The ability to read and write
- Accuracy and speed
- Great customer service
- Be able to open and close the store
- Tag items as they are brought to the store from the PAC Warehouse
These retail skills ensure that the store tasks are completed daily in a timely manner. During our visit, we were able to witness a delivery made by the Planet Access Company warehouse by individuals with disabilities. We saw first hand how involved the PAC Store is in promoting employment of people with disabilities and how it helps their bottom line.
The PAC Store just had its busiest week right after Thanksgiving and they hired seasonal workers to help with the busy shopping season. For those last minute shoppers it’s not too late to stop by and pick up a Christmas present, you will find that there’s something for everyone in your household and the best part is you’ll be helping us promote disability awareness.
