Q: How long have you been at Hewn?
A: I have worked at Hewn since 2015.

Q: What type of business is Hewn?
A: Hewn is a hand-forged bakery in Evanston, IL. We make pastries, bread, sandwiches and coffee.

Q: What do you do at your job?
A: I am the dishwasher at Hewn. I make sure that the kitchen is neat for the entire Hewn team. I put things away after they are clean. I also mop floors, take out the trash and recycling and clean the bathroom. I am a big part of Hewn because I am the one who makes sure that all things are clean.

Q: When is Hewn the busiest?
A: Hewn is always busy on Saturdays and busiest each day in the early morning. We get extra busy at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Q: Does it get stressful for you when it is busy?
A: Yes, because I have to keep up with the dishes and the busier we are, the more dishes I have to wash.

Q: How do you cope with stress at work?
A: When I get stressed out, I count to 10 and take deep breaths. If I need extra support I walk to No Boundaries to talk to my supporters there.

Q: Are your co-workers helpful to you?
A: Yes, my co-workers are very helpful. They support me when I need help to get through the day. They are patient with me and they check in with me to make sure I’m okay.

Q: What are some of the things your co-workers do to help you be successful at work?
A: They guide me down the right path in the workforce. They give me guidance and support when I need it. They are kind to me and push me to be the best employee I can be.

Q: What are the benefits of working in your opinion?
A: Working allows me to earn money, be more independent, keep busy, and meet new people. I am able to pay my rent, buy my food, and go out with my friends. When I do a good job it makes me feel good.

Anton! It’s your old friend, Kevin Coleman. I just stumbled across this article after a search to see what you’re up to. Hewn is lucky to have you! A warm “Hello” to you and your family from myself and Melissa!
