Matt and John with Rotarians
Recently, participants John Doetsch and Matt LaChapelle were guest speakers at a meeting of the Evanston Lighthouse Lighthouse Rotary Club (ELRC) to help kick off the Rotary’s upcoming Taste of Evanston. The July 9 event at the historic Dawes House will benefit three local Evanston workplace skills training programs – No Boundaries, Evanston Work Ethic Program and Evanston Rebuilding Warehouse.
At the ELRC morning meeting John and Matt enjoyed a delicious breakfast and networked with Rotarians. “I learned about different organizations and events in the Evanston area,” said John who spoke to Rotarians about the skills he is building at No Boundaries, such as Internet safety, self-advocacy and applying for jobs. “I love what the Rotary is all about and I want to join the club,” said Matt. “I think it will be a great thing for me and I would like to learn more.”
Matt applies the skills he has learned at No Boundaries to his two jobs at Walmart and Lou Malnati’s, while John uses new skills to apply for jobs of his own.
