Hewn is a bakery that specializes in delicious bread.
I love working. I love my job.
I have been working at Hewn as a dishwasher for one year. I am responsible for preparing my work station and the bread station for the head baker. I also wash and dry all the dishes and put things away, sweep and wash the floors, and take out recycling.
After working for one year at Hewn, I had an annual performance review with my bosses. I was nervous about this because I did not know what would happen. I knew that there were some things at Hewn I had to work on, but that I also did a lot of things well at Hewn. It was hard to hear about my performance.
Some things my bosses told me I need improvement on are slowing down and not using so much soap when washing dishes, and making sure that the dishes are dry when I put them away. The good things are that I bring enthusiasm to the workplace, I am great with people, and I am helpful to my coworkers.
Guess what? I got a raise! I was proud when I got my first paycheck with my raise. I can pay for more things now and pay back my parents for some of things they have helped me with. I can also save some money too. That makes me feel good!
I am proud that I can be more independent because I have my job. I feel good about myself that I work each day and am responsible for myself. I support myself with my paychecks. I take responsibility to pay my groceries and my rent. I do great work at Hewn and I love my job!
