ComEd Energy Force Ambassador Program celebrates 10th Anniversary

Search Inc was so excited to join ComEd and 27 other agencies virtually to celebrate the kick off of the 10th anniversary ofthe ComEd Energy Force Ambassador Program!  Orientation for the 2021 milestone year gave us the opportunity to meet new participants and to hear presenters Rich Negrin, ComEd Vice President of External Affairs and former NFL Player, and Commissioner Rachel Arfa with the Chicago Mayor’s Office of People with Disabilities (MOPD). Both Rich and Commissioner Arfa shared their stories and advice that inspired the Ambassadors.

Since 2012, the Energy Force Ambassador Program has provided individuals with developmental disabilities the opportunity to work on skills needed for employment and has empowered them to teach the public about energy efficiency.

Ambassadors, like our very own Brian, get to practice practical skills in preparation for employment. Skills include creating and sending appropriate emails to venues where they can share ComEd energy-saving information, mastering online calendars for scheduling their 10 annual ComEd engagements, or using spreadsheets to manage their Energy Force supplies inventory. Additionally, Ambassadors work on their networking and relationship-building skills by collaborating with one another. And of course, communication skills are practiced by engaging with the public. In the past 3 years alone, Ambassadors have engaged with over 100,000 ComEd customers! This year, Ambassadors will also hone their digital presentation skills by learning how to present via Zoom or other virtual platforms. All of these are skills you need to be successful in the workplace!
