Hop on the Bus to Independence

Posted by on May 5, 2014 - 0 Comments

Using public transportation is an essential skill that people with disabilities need in order to live and work in the community. Pace Suburban Bus has teamed up with jjslist.com to offer a free, hands-on, interactive workshop to help participants learn to use public transportation for safe and independent travel. They’ll even bring the workshop to you!

The 90-minute Hop on the Bus Workshop starts with the jjslist.com Training Team. The Team works with participants to learn the rtachicago.com online trip planner. Next, Pace Suburban Bus staff will take participants on a real Pace bus to explore how it works, how to pay a fare, and what participants need to know to reach their destinations safely. Finally, an RTA representative will review the physical accessibility bus feature.

The workshop is open to any public or private school, agency, or service provider that works with individuals with disabilities ages 14 and older within the six-county area serviced by Pace Suburban Bus (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry, Will).

To learn more and schedule your Hop on the Bus Workshop, please contact Sarah Armour, Business Assistant at jjslist.com (847-869-0000 or sarah@jjslist.com).
