Another Organization Gets Disability Awareness Trained

Posted by on October 25, 2016 - 0 Comments

Last week, our Disability Awareness Players gave another successful training session at Ela Area Public Library in Lake Zurich, IL. Everyone was actively engaged, and seemed to enjoy the experience. Here is what a few of the staff members had to say:

“Please keep your group going! The business world especially needs this training!”

“This workshop was great. I had a cousin who was a wheelchair user, so this really hit home for me. It’s so important for people to understand how to interact with people who have disabilities.”

“Your group is charming and it was so good to hear them speak directly about what helps them and the respect they deserve.”

“We have a patron who has a speech disability. He always calls with reference questions, and is very difficult to understand. You gave good tips on how we should communicate with him the next time he calls.”

“I enjoyed the role playing. It was great to see the right way to interact. I also didn’t know anything about sighted-guiding and I feel more comfortable with that now.”

We look forward to the next training! IMG_2408
